Ed Orgeron is doing something he hasn’t done in decades — watch a high school football game on the sidelines for fun.
The former LSU head coach was seen on the sidelines at the LHSAA Class 5A playoff game between Acadiana and Ponchatoula alongside good friend Benny Latino, a former Southeastern Louisiana baseball player.
Orgeron has recruited several football players on the field in Ponchatoula, including the Green Wave’s five-star safety Jacoby Matthews and Acadiana’s Laterrance Welch.
Former LSU football coach Ed Orgeron was on the sidelines for the Acadiana vs. Ponchatoula Class 5A playoff game on Friday, Dec. 3.
Orgeron coached his last Tigers game on Saturday, Nov. 27 where LSU beat Texas A&M 27-24. Orgeron announced earlier this season he would not return in 2022. Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly will take over the Tigers next season.
