Travel Guides – New video surfaces of Mexican president’s brother taking stacks of cash

A Mexican information outlet broadcasted a video on Thursday of a brother of president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador receiving stacks of cash a number of years in the past.

The video, which is reportedly from 2015, is the second video displaying a brother of the president accepting massive quantities of cash.


The footage was filmed simply forward of a nationwide vote through which the now-ruling Morena celebration was competing in its first election.

In the video launched late on Thursday by Mexican information outlet Latinus, Martin Jesus Lopez Obrador will be seen receiving an envelope filled with a big stack of payments, which a narrator says totalled 150,000 pesos (£5,452) and have been half of a recurring set of funds.

The man within the video giving the president’s youthful brother was recognized as David Leon, a political operative who served as an adviser to Mr Lopez Obrador earlier than heading Mexico’s civil safety company. He gave up the federal government job final August.

Hours after the video was launched, Mr Leon posted on his private Twitter account stating that the bundles of cash “were in a personal capacity, product of my savings and on the occasion of a loan,” Latinus reported.

In response to the video, the president stated: “I think the intention is to do damage to me, or to try to damage me.

“It’s the perennial black campaign of my adversaries. We’re used to this. But we have always emerged unscathed from slander.”

He stated he wouldn’t cowl up for anybody, and that authorities ought to examine whether or not any crime had been dedicated, and punish any wrongdoing.

“But my conscience is clear,” added Mr Lopez Obrador, who has constructed his fame as an indefatigable scourge of corruption.
