“I’m jumping in the car to go to my local Woolies because I want to buy myself a sweet potato but not to eat…to grow!” Brad said in his TikTok tutorial.

“All you need to do is take your sweet potato straight from the supermarket put it in a glass of water and that is it.

“It will turn into an awesome house plant.”

Although the new DIY hack does come with some terms and conditions.

“One thing I will say though is it will take around four weeks before anything happens, any roots or anything to appear.

“But once it starts it will happen super quick,” Brad explained displaying his own potato root system.

Setting you back a gold coin, Brad says you don’t need a green thumb to keep your new house plant thriving.

“They are the coolest and easiest plants to take care of because you literally just need to change the water every couple of weeks and that is it.”

However, some fans admitted they had tried the trick to no avail.

“I’ve had mine in water for three months…and nothing has happened,” one said.

“Mine rotted away,” another wrote.

“I bought 7 and they all rotted,” another agreed.

But the honest plant-man Brad was quick to post, even he has blunders when it comes to his hacks.

In another video Brad confessed one mistake.

“Now I have done this a bunch of times, but this one isn’t going the best,” he displayed his sad-looking sweet potato.

“It’s really squishy…this does happen sometimes.

“So I’m just about to throw it out and start again because I have had one that has lasted for two whole years and was super happy and not squishy,” he said.
