A whistleblowing McDonald’s worker in the UK has shocked his TikTok followers by posting an image of a very unhygienic drinks machine at the popular fast-food outlet.
TikTok user @McOldKentRoad shone a torch – literally – on a worm-infested soft drink machine at the London store.
The footage shows worms wriggling about in the drain section of the drinks machine.
Although the whistleblower captioned the video “maggots,” the creatures are actually earthworms – not that that makes it any better, exactly.
After the disgusting video went viral, The Old Kent Road outlet’s management told MyLondon the machine had been given a thorough deep clean since the footage was taken.
“We take cleanliness and hygiene extremely seriously,” McDonald’s told the publication.
“Unfortunately, a number of weeks ago we were made aware of an issue in the drain serving the drinks station at our Old Kent Road restaurant.
“We immediately closed the drinks station and our hygiene team identified the cause of the issue which was fixed before a deep clean was carried out.

“The area was inspected by external specialists and no drinks were served to customers until we were sure that the issue was fully resolved.”
TikTok user @aminobandz reposted the footage with the caption, “Me seeing this right after ordering my food,” with a crying emoji.
“I can’t even tell what that is,” one horrified person wrote.
“What am I even looking at?” said another.
“I’m put off mcdees now.”
Some seemed less bothered.
“Still want a Big Mac,” one person wrote.
