Lil Nas X has responded to homophobic backlash after he kissed a male back-up dancer on stage on the BET Awards.
The 22-year-old rapper — who’s overtly homosexual — has fired back on Twitter following criticism of the kiss on social media. One Twitter person even accused Nas of being “insecure about his sexuality” and “constantly reminding everyone” he’s homosexual.
“We are 4 months in and people are still acting surprised that I am being gay and sexual in performances of a song about gay and sexual s…. Like the song is literally about gay sex what y’all want me to do play the piano while baking a cake,” Nas tweeted.
The Old Town Road singer additionally admitted he’s attempting to “unlearn” attitudes he had when he was rising up and although he’s taking steps ahead, he nonetheless has a “long way to go”.
“You’re right i am insecure about my sexuality. I still have a long way to go. I’ve never denied that,” Nas responded to at least one critic.
“When you’re conditioned by society to hate yourself your entire life it takes a lot of unlearning.

However, the singer admitted he was crammed with nerves concerning the efficiency as he thanked those that had provided assist.

“While on stage I was trembling knowing that I was performing something like that in front of my straight peers. even during the performance I was having a hard time calming my nerves. Thank you guys for the love.”
