Katanning police invite community inside station to showcase $1.6 million worth of upgrades for open day

Katanning police are inviting the public to their new-look station next week with the unveiling of $1.6 million worth of upgrades.

The Katanning Police Station Community Open Day will take place from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday, December 1.

Representatives from local primary schools will be presenting Katanning police with artworks to display throughout the station.

Curious locals will be able to take a tour of the station on the day, with Katanning police giving residents a sample of life inside the premises.

Members of the State Emergency Service, St John Ambulance and local fire brigades will be there on the day to speak to the community.

Police will put on a sausage sizzle and there will be a bouncy castle at the station to make the event fun for the whole family. The opening comes after months of internal renovations at the station.

Katanning police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Carlos Correia will be the master of ceremonies on the day. Sen. Sgt Correia said the upgraded station would improve productivity, as well as the health and welfare for police officers, the public and those in custody.

“We will become more efficient and effective,” he said.

“Custodial services have also been improved to make it a safer environment for officers and those in custody.”
