Giants’ first-round pick Darcy Jones out for season

GWS first-round draft pick Darcy Jones is ready to overlook the rest of the season after struggling a torn ACL.

The 19-year-old West Australian, taken with pick 21 of the latest AFL nationwide draft, incurred the knee harm whereas taking part in within the VFL on Saturday.

The Giants confirmed the prognosis on Tuesday morning and Jones will meet with a surgeon this week.

“Unfortunately it is simply a kind of issues that occurs in soccer and we’ll wrap our arms round Darcy and provides him all of the help he wants at this robust time,” stated Giants soccer GM Jason McCartney.

“He’s made an ideal impression on our group already within the brief time he is been on the membership. He’s an exquisite individual and he’ll be an ideal participant for our soccer membership.”

Small ahead Jones has but to make his senior debut and was one among three gamers drafted by the Giants within the first spherical final 12 months, alongside academy choice Harry Rowston and high pick Aaron Cadman.
