A 40-year-old Carnarvon man has been charged with the murder of his 18-year-old daughter – more than 15 years after police say he assaulted her as a toddler.
Teagan Jade Ferguson was seriously assaulted by her father Terrence John Bice when she was two years old in 2005.
Bice pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to five years in jail.
A court heard at the time that he threw her across her bedroom floor because he wanted her to stop crying.
The assault caused a traumatic brain injury and numerous chronic health conditions that followed her throughout her short life.
“It will be alleged that the injuries received during the assault eventually led to her death,” WA Police said on Wednesday.
His daughter had been in palliative care since 2015 and died in Perth Children’s Hospital last June.
Her father appeared in Carnarvon Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He will next appear in Stirling Garden Magistrates Court on January 19.
