During a special moment on the Channel Seven breakfast show, the 45-year-old told his mum, Lorraine, that he would be heading Down Under in just a few week’s time.
“I’m coming home straight after Christmas and I’m going to stay all of January, so I’m going to stick around and be with you and everyone over there,” he said.
“It’s been too long, I can’t believe it’s been two years, it’s crazy.”
An emotional Lorraine said the news was “amazing” and that she would “treasure every minute” with her son.
“Family time is everything to me and if Curtis were here, that would be the best gift I could have.”
She said it had been “horrendous” being separated from various family members during the pandemic.
“But hey, I can look forward to December and January now!”
